Hello. I wanted to formally apologize for not responding to your message that was sent in January. TyA did end up relaying the message to me and I did get the discord up and running. If you would like anything specific inside of it please do let me know.
I just don't know what to say. I had my emails stopped for awhile and I guess that's when the vandals struck. Thanks ever so much for the pick up. It took some time, but I think everything is back to normal and the three vandals are banned from this wiki indefinitely. That's how I roll because it was vandals like those that nearly destroyed this wiki six years ago. It was a disaster, but with a lot of work by myself and a few other dedicated editors, we brought it back to life and made it shine. I will never let this wiki go to shambles again and feel terrible that I didn't know about the images sooner. Thank you again. Angelle 22:42, January 8, 2020 (UTC)
Hi! I don't know much about this site (I've scrolled through wiki pages on here for years but don't know much else about it) but I was just wondering if you're one of the editors for the Ouran Wiki pages?
If I'm in the wrong place feel free to ignore but if you are! I have some information about one of the characters and wondered if there's anything I'd have to do to prove it's authentic info or anything like that to get it added to his page or if that's allowed.
(Also I'd like to thank you for your contributions to these wonderful pages and hope you have a nice and wonderful holiday ! )
Yes, I'm the Bureaucrat and Administrator for this wiki and its long-time editor. If you have information and can verify it with references that prove it is canon, I'm more than happy to add it. Or you can as a registered editor and I welcome you do so. If you don't know how to edit, I'm happy to help you with that.
Bear in mind, however, that canon-based evidence means it has been:
1. Seen or heard in one of the official formats of the series (anime, manga, live-action, visual novel) ; or 2. Published somewhere by Hakusensha Publications; or 3. Published somewhere by Bones Studio; or 4. Published in an article published elsewhere but citing information taken from one of these sources.
If your information meets one of these criteria, I'd love to know about it.
So it's from one of the "Hana to Yume special comics" - The Ohshc manga fanbook - Published under Hakusensha publications, from 2009.
It's not a lot but on page 111, under Supporting Character introductions, it has "Mr. Hitachiin"'s (the twins father) name listed as Hayato Hitachiin
It's kind of cool, so I thought it'd be fun to share!
That is very cool. Why don't you see if you can make the changes yourself? You would need to change the page name (leaving a redirect), then edit in the first name in the article and in the Infobox. I think that's it. If you've never edited before, that's enough of a challenge. If you don't want to give it go, let me know and I will take care of it.
And don't worry about messing up. I can always make repairs as necessary.
Not at the present time and I would only approve of adding it if Community Central provided a moderator to monitor the chat. So far, they do not provide this for individual wikis, just the FANDOM wiki. Perhaps there is an Ouran channel there? However, if enough people request it, I will consider it. Ello, I have been working effortlessly trying to restore some of the pages that were attacked by a troll or 2. You may want to look through the pages and delete user generated pages not of value to this page and re-check photos in the case there are remnants of them. blockings may be order.
Yes, I did notice and thank you so much for helping to roll back some of that nonsense. The trolls have been blocked and all the bad edits are gone. I appreciate your vigilence. Angelle 13:44, November 9, 2019 (UTC)
Hey there and welcome. I appreciate the offer but lots of those dead links are on old Forum messages (as in: fuhgeddaoudit). I've looked through my Admin stuff and don't see a list anywhere but if you want to look at the page Sayuri suggested or go page-by-page searching for them, give it a shot. I check edits daily, so if something isn't right, I'll fix it. Thanks. Angelle 02:51, November 1, 2019 (UTC)
I have no problem going through every page to fix them, but some of the ones I've found I can't fix because the page is set to unediteable. Sorry, I should have been clearer. I was mostly wondering how I get permission to edit the pages to fix them.
Thank you again.
If you're a registered editor, you already have sufficient privileges. You must also be logged in in order to edit. Other than that, any page that says you can't edit is likely off limits. Angelle 10:21, November 1, 2019 (UTC)
Source code is always an option. I hate the Visual Editor, quike frankly. There are two ways to accomplish this.
You can make Source your ONLY editing choice or give yourself the option of Source/Visual. Click on "My Preferences" to see how your username is configured. In fact, check out each tab thereunder to find other ways to personalize your wiki experience.
Let me know if this helps.
And Ty, while Brook is training, my invitation to be a current co-admin stands open to you, as well.
Not in the drop down menu, but click directly on the button that says EDIT (not the little arrow) and the editing page will open with two tabs showing. Let me know if you see that. Angelle 19:58, October 29, 2019 (UTC)
Hi Ty. You know, I didn't mean to put you in an awkward position, which I realize I did after the fact. If you can't help out or don't have time, I understand. No worries. Our new Wiki Manager, Sayuri, has agreed to assist. Btw, did you ever find the Source code tab? Just wondering.
Angelle 12:09, October 31, 2019 (UTC)
Some wikis have view source available in the drop down menu for Edit. It just shows the content with the wiki markups but without going into editor mode. I just wanted to show BrookieChan what the markups do. I'll link her a cheat sheet if she needs it.
Oh hi. I was wondering about this. There's a Wiki manager over at Psycho Pass so I thought there might be one here, too. We're ok here, although I am searching for a reliable coadmin. I asked someone recently but they said no and no one else seems that interested since the anime is vintage. I mean, yeah, it's iconic, but vintage. Anyway... welcome. I'll give a shout if I need anything.
Hi again. Just a heads up on a discussion I've been having with a new editor who is interested in "learning the ropes" about becoming an admin. She's enthusiastic and I'm up for helping her learn so I've taken her on as an admin-in-training for this wiki (why not?) The thing is that I don't always have time, so I've referred her to both TyLee and to you for advice, as well. I'll be around, of course, but hope you can assist in this regard. The editor's name is BrookieChan.
Hey! Was just wondering if it was alright for me to help and write some of the manga chapters or at least clear up some of the red links you have by making pages? It looks like a fair few of them are just redirects, but I see that you already deleted them. Did you not want those to be redirects?
I don't mind. I know re-directs are meant to organize the many versions of a page different editors may have created to a single one, but on the wikis I manage, that has never been an issue. When I adopted this wiki, it was so torn up that it was easier to re-build, which we did, from the ground up. The only thing I really would love to do is give the wiki a facelift - something more in line with the new color scheme and artwork of the new manga. If you would like to help with that, I'd be grateful. You don't have to do the work; just point out potential color hex codes and an image that will truck properly across the main page. That's always where I have difficulty. Thanks, Sayuri! Angelle 11:49, October 31, 2019 (UTC)
I would still suggest a redirect for some of these names. Currently the official names include their “nicknames”, but don’t have a redirect for that and their full names redirects are also ones that were deleted. I think it would make everything better for normal editors to find them because right now they aren’t going anywhere.
The redirects are across many different pages if you check Special:Wantedpages, so I thought it would be easier to help you.
What do you mean by hex code and image that will go across the main page?
Hm. I see what you mean about the old redirects. Many of them are from ancient Forum messages and since Forums are going to be eliminated, I'm not concerned about them. Question: Is there a page that shows you where all red links exist? I've always wondered. If not a page, is there a way of gathering them in a list? Anyway, I would prefer to take care of the red links myself since I do have a method of dealing with them. If I need help, I will let you know.
There are some things you can do, however...
I assume you have Admin rights, correct? So go into Theme Designer and take a look at what's required to create a Main Page. Hex codes are alpha-numeric strings you can find online by Googling "hex codes." An image of the new manga cover is on the Main Page so you can get a sense of the palette in order to make a list of the hex codes you would suggest for a new "look." My biggest issue has always been finding an image that will fit on the Main Page properly. There are quite specific guidelines for it as laid out by CC in their tutorial and they are a pain. If you're willing to research this, that would be a big help. CC's tutorial lays out the specifics.
Also...there are manga pages that have been created, but which lack summaries. The Manga Project is something TyLee was heading up, but it's huge and she's now a Discussions Moderator at another wiki so her time is limited here. I would check the Chapter pages to see which ones need summaries. That, too, would be a big help. Or, if summary writing isn't your thing, just setting up new pages for other chapters in the pre-established format would be good and creating a page that lists which chapters still need summaries would also be helpful.
