Kadomatsu is a servant in the employ of the Nekozawa family of the Tokarev dynasty. He is Umehito Nekozawa's personal secretary. He is always seen in the company of Kuretake, Nekozawa's maid. Like Kuretake, he is sympathetic to the tragic plight of his young master's photophobia and his young mistress's nyctophobia.
His name shows his connection to the spirit-world insofar that it literally means "gate pine," (門松) which is a traditional Japanese decoration of the New Year placed in pairs in front of homes to welcome ancestral spirits or kami of the harvest.
